Nextcloud is an open source file hosting service that you run on your own server. The German company behind it sells enterprise support for organisations that need a compliant, supported deployment. Beyond file hosting, marketed as Nextcloud Files, there is Nextcloud Talk for audio and video calls and Nextcloud Groupware for calendar, contacts and email. Together the products form Nextcloud Hub.

Because it is self-hosted, Nextcloud is not automatically European: your files live wherever you install it. Run it on a server in the EU, or with the German company behind the project, and it becomes a full European alternative to the American cloud storage suites.

The software is open source and free to host yourself. Support plans start at 36 euro per user per year.
