European alternatives to Yandex Metrica
Web analytics reporting from European providers
Browse the category: Web analytics services · Session recording tools
Yandex Metrica is a web analytics service from the Russian company Yandex. It reports visitor numbers, traffic sources, conversions and on site behaviour, and it also includes session recording and heatmaps, so it sits somewhere between a traffic dashboard and a behaviour tool. It is used mainly by site owners in Russian speaking markets, though it turns up elsewhere too.
Sending visitor data to a service outside the EU needs a legal basis and a transfer mechanism, and for a Russian provider that assessment is harder to defend, which is why many European site owners have removed it. A European alternative to Yandex Metrica gives you the same reports under EU law. Simple Analytics and Pirsch are lightweight analytics tools, Piwik PRO is aimed at larger organisations, and etracker covers broader web analysis.

Questions
Is there a European analytics tool that avoids cookies?
Several in this group are built around measurement without individual identifiers, including Simple Analytics and Pirsch. Ask each provider how their approach affects your consent banner.
Can I keep my historical data?
Analytics history does not usually transfer between platforms, so most sites export what they need and start a fresh series. Running the old and new tools in parallel for a few weeks makes the numbers comparable.
Which option suits a large organisation?
Piwik PRO and etracker are aimed at organisations with governance requirements and several sites to manage. Wide Angle Analytics is another option worth comparing.
