European note-taking apps

A note-taking app is where thoughts, meeting notes, reading lists and half formed projects end up. The useful ones combine quick capture with structure later: tags, links between notes, folders, full text search and sync across devices. Some stay close to plain text, others behave more like a personal database with tables, templates and relations between entries.

Notes accumulate for years, so the exit route matters more here than in almost any other category. Joplin, Anytype and Capacities come from European makers, and some store notes locally or as Markdown files you keep yourself. Beyond picking a European alternative to a US notes app, favour open formats: a folder of Markdown outlives any single company.
