European managed kubernetes services
Kubernetes clusters run by European operators
Replaces: Amazon Web Services (AWS) · DigitalOcean · Google Cloud Platform · Microsoft Azure
A managed Kubernetes service gives you clusters without the work of building and maintaining the control plane. The provider handles the master components, upgrades and often the node pools, while you deploy workloads with the usual manifests and tooling. Kubernetes itself is open source and stewarded by the Cloud Native Computing Foundation, so the API you build against is the same everywhere.
That shared API is exactly why Kubernetes travels well between providers, and why a move need not be a rebuild. Scaleway, OVHcloud and SysEleven MetaKube offer clusters in European regions, which keeps workloads, volumes and cluster logs under EU jurisdiction. When comparing a European alternative for managed Kubernetes, look closely at the load balancer, storage class and registry pieces, since those are the parts that differ.
