mail.de is an email provider from Germany that runs on dedicated servers in Hamburg. Alongside mailboxes it offers a calendar, an address book and online storage, all reachable over the open CalDAV, CardDAV and WebDAV standards. Both private customers and companies can use the service.
Because everything is hosted in Germany, mail.de is a practical European alternative to American webmail. The data centre runs on renewable hydropower, and the company plants trees in Germany for every premium customer. A good fit if you want your mail, contacts and files with one German provider.
Pricing
FreeMail includes 1 GB of storage, or 500 MB in an ad-free version. Premium plans start at 0.99 euro per month with 2.5 GB, and the largest plan starts at 40 GB and grows by 1 GB per month once the quota is reached.
