IcyZip

Live text and small file transfers between two browsers

AustriaEUEU hostedFree planEU controlled

IcyZip connects two browser tabs by QR code or link to exchange live text, links, code and one selected file up to 25 MiB. It works on phones and computers without an account or app, including across different networks. Both browsers must stay open and online.

The service is owned and operated by Richard Andresik in Steyr, Austria. It suits quick device-to-device handoffs that you might otherwise use AirDrop for. Transfers pass through an internet relay; there is no nearby-device discovery, peer-to-peer transfer, folder synchronisation, cloud storage or offline pickup.

The legal notice names Richard Andresik personally as service provider, media owner and operator. His Austrian Economic Chamber registration confirms the same individual business in Steyr, and the privacy policy names him as controller.

Pricing

Currently free to use, without an account. The current limit is one selected file up to 25 MiB per transfer.

Data and operations

Infrastructure and email path

Verified operational dependencies, shown separately from ownership and from the service's core data hosting.

Core service hosting

Hetzner

European provider
Location
Falkenstein, Germany
Observed
IcyZip operates its own server infrastructure. Its configured transfer relay wss://icyzip.com/myWebsocket uses 148.251.87.230 on Hetzner AS24940. RIPE identifies fsn1-dc11 and Hetzner’s geofeed places the address in Falkenstein, Germany.

Incoming business email

IcyZip mail on Hetzner

European provider
Location
Falkenstein, Germany
Observed
Operator-managed mail on IcyZip’s Hetzner server. MX 10 mail.icyzip.com resolves to 148.251.87.230 in Falkenstein, Germany, the same address as the website and transfer relay. Reverse DNS is mail.blitzmarkt.at. Current MX: 10 mail.icyzip.com.

Authorised outbound email

IcyZip mail on Hetzner

European provider
Location
Falkenstein, Germany
Observed
SPF v=spf1 ip4:148.251.87.230 +mx -all authorises IcyZip’s own Hetzner server and its MX host, which resolves to the same IP in Falkenstein, Germany. No external sender is included in this policy. SPF records sending authorisation, not a history of delivered messages.

Public DNS records identify visible providers and routes, not every backend location or private data-region setting.
