A content delivery network copies your static files to servers spread across many locations and serves each visitor from a nearby one. That cuts latency, absorbs traffic spikes and takes load off your origin server. Modern CDNs also handle image resizing, compression, cache rules and TLS termination, which makes them a standard layer in front of websites, media libraries and software downloads.
Every request from your visitors passes through the CDN, including their IP addresses and the pages they open, so the operator's jurisdiction matters.
