/e/OS

Google free mobile operating system from France

FranceEUOpen sourceEU controlled

/e/OS is an open source mobile operating system based on Android, developed by the /e/foundation in France and shipped as the default system on Murena smartphones. It comes without Google apps and services, using the open source microG to stand in for the Google APIs so most Android apps still run, and it installs on over 200 handsets.

Default apps are deliberately few, and an Advanced Privacy tool detects and blocks trackers, hides or falsifies your location and can route traffic through the Tor network. An optional Murena Workspace account syncs mail, files, photos, calendar, contacts, tasks and notes. As a European alternative to stock Android, it suits people ready to set up their own phone.
