About Balsio
Balsio is a work messenger from Latvia in which your work email is your identity. Under the EU's Digital Markets Act it can exchange one-to-one messages with WhatsApp users in the EEA, end to end encrypted and without showing your phone number. It opened across Europe in May 2026 under the name BirdyChat.
Ownership
Fyello Productivity SIA, a Riga company registered in 2023, runs Balsio, which was called BirdyChat until September 2026. Latvia's register shows co-founders Rolands Mesters and Mārtiņš Spilners holding 74.8 percent of the shares, directly and through Mesters's company SIA RM Capital. Venture funds and angels hold the rest, the largest being Dig Ventures Fund II with 13.9 percent, and the two founders are the registered beneficial owners.

Through the EU's interoperability rules it can message WhatsApp users with EEA phone numbers one to one, so colleagues and clients do not all have to switch at once. It is not meant for private use, since an account needs a work email address.
