Register No. 112
Is TIDAL European?
No. TIDAL is controlled from the United States.
Block, Inc., the US company behind Square and Cash App, has owned a majority of TIDAL since 2021, and artist shareholders hold the rest. Block is listed in New York, but its Class B shares carry ten votes each: co-founder Jack Dorsey held 42.2% of the votes at 31 March 2026, and Block says its Class B holders together can control shareholder votes. Control therefore sits in the United States, even though the European service is run by a Norwegian company.
