About mosparo
mosparo is an open source spam protection system for forms. It catches spam submissions before they reach your inbox and is designed to be usable by everyone except robots: it works with screen readers and with mouse, keyboard or touch input, so nobody is locked out by an unreadable puzzle. The project comes from Switzerland and is released under the permissive MIT licence.

mosparo.io ↗Open source spam protection for web forms
mosparo is self-hosted, so it is not necessarily European: you can host it anywhere, including on a server in the EU, where it becomes a free European alternative to the American captcha services. It suits site owners who care about accessibility as much as about spam.
- Instead of
- hCaptcha and reCAPTCHA
- Suits
- Accessible forms that still need spam filtering
Operations
Who runs the parts of the service we could observe from outside, checked 4 September 2026. A provider's control can differ from where its servers stand.
Badge
mosparo can show its verified European ownership with a badge that links back to this page. If the verdict ever changes, the badge stops working.
Also available in black and white, and as a compact badge: change blue to black or white, or ownership to ownership-compact.
